My Big Surprise Marriage Proposal at 35,000 ft!

Today is #Happyflightattendantday so I thought I would share a throwback photo 7 years ago when I was still a flight attendant. My boyfriend at the time managed to sneak on board my Hawaii flight (with the crews help!) and got down on one knee in the galley to propose to me in front of all the crew that had gathered around.

You can tell by the look on my face that I don’t deal well with surprises and I can honestly say this was one day that shocked me more than any other time I can remember! How the Hell did he get on the plane without me seeing him at the boarding entrance where I was stationed? The pilots were in on it too and asked me into the flight deck for a few minutes after take off so the flight attendants could bring my guy up front without me seeing him.

My poor man had flown from Vancouver to Hawaii and then turned right around an hour later so that he could be on my flight back home. Customs in both places were a little shocked when he had to state on his form how long he was staying and was going to be away for! (He had brought along the wedding ring receipt so they didn’t think he was involved in any illegal activity!)

Needless to say this proposal was a wonderful collaboration of airline members in Vancouver and Hawaii which we owe many thank you’s to. While I don’t miss living out of a suitcase after 20 years on the job, I am grateful everyday for the incredible memories and experiences my career gave me. It is an education like no other and an invaluable life journey. My career as a flight attendant

My airline family will forever be in my heart as there is always a fun reason to get together to keep our friendships strong even after we hang up our wings. We are an amazing group of men and women that love to live a very diverse life. We are organized, spontaneous, adaptable, hospitable and compassionate towards others.

I very thankful for my long and happy career flying around the world and I would like to say Happy Flight Attendant Day to all the amazing crews around the world.

Love you all! <3
