Where Should I Be in My Relationship After One Year?

Welcome to Dear Sybersue! I want to talk about a very important topic that many couples are facing today. Where Should I Be in My Relationship After One Year?

So many men and women are afraid to ask the right questions regarding the status of their partnership for fear of scaring off their partners. They don’t want to come across as pushy or looking for a marriage proposal too soon.

You have the right to know where you stand after being in a committed partnership for over 1 year together. In fact, you should know by now!

Having some healthy expectations in your relationship is necessary as it creates boundaries and self-respect. Sitting back and not knowing where you stand with your partner and your future, is a complacent way to live.

Within the first 3 to 6 months you both should have discussed your values, desires, life goals, future aspirations and what is important to you in a partnership. You could be on completely different paths which should be communicated in the early stages of any union.

What if they have goals to move cities for their career in the future or they have decided not to have children? I can tell you from my coaching business that these are everyday scenarios that haven’t been discussed in many 2 year+ relationships!

Don’t waste time in a non-communicative partnership!

Why try to force something that is not going to be a long-term compatible situation? This is why we date and get to know each other. We’re not going to love everyone we have a romantic encounter with and no one said it was easy to meet your life partner. Paying close attention and asking the right questions certainly helps though!

Don’t be the last to know that they are not on the same page as you are! Please watch the video above and leave your comments below.
